A first win for the Vets away to the young FC Highfield on Common Edge.

The Vets went 1-0 up in the first few minutes, a Dan Whiteside through ball released Brad McDonough down the right wing to colly slot home. Concerted Highfield pressure followed with Vets keeper Peewee performing acrobatics to keep the lead.
Player-Manager Scott Buchanan replaced himself with Kev Wight on 30 minutes and the 40 year old did not take long to make an impact. When chasing down the defence he won the ball and hit a pearler from 25 yards which flew in at the far post for 2-0.
Neither team could believe the half time score, as Highfield had enjoyed the better possession. Time for the Vets to up their game.
The Vet’s third came from centre half Lee Scammell with a direct free kick from just outside the box. perfectly placed over the wall and into the top corner for 3-0.
In the last 10 minutes Highfield finally found their shooting boots to make the score 1-3, but Brad McDonough finished them off on 86 minutes with another great run and finish for 4-1.
