Club Chairman Mark Gannon is delighted to have made a quick start to bolstering the Vets squad for the coming season. "We've got our business done early and now have plenty of time to bed the new lads in." he reported. "All the new lads will be regulars at training too, which was an important consideration."

bally160The first signing was the most important as top referee Derek Ball was coerced out of refereeing next season in favour of taking the Vets Assistant Manager role. With plenty of experience of running teams, 48 year old Derek will be running the line, performing physio duties, assisting with team selection and tactics and playing when needed.

kingy16031 year old Danny King played last season in the Prem for Devonshire Club and can play full back or anywhere in midfield.

vito16044 year old Vito Cinardi swans round in a suit all week in his role for the Chamber of Commerce, but after 10 years out of local sunday football will now be back in shorts and studs. Described as a 'rough house midfielder' Vito has an exceptional talent for winding up opposition players and his Italian lineage helps greatly with the winning of free kicks.

chappy16033 year old John Chapman is one half of the famous 'Chappy Brothers' double-act, the other half being goalkeeping legend and twin brother Ian. A versatile goalscoring midfielder, John played last season for CBFC.

chopper16037 year old Paul 'Chopper' Hough trained with the Vets towards the end of last season and is looking forward to 2011/12. He has a reputation as a fearsome opponent on the field, whilst off the field he is an airy-fairy 'creative type' running his own graphic design business.

scott160A long-term target, legendary goalscorer Scott Buchanan, 43, has been talked out of retirement and running teams to once again stalk the penalty areas of the Fylde Coast. Last season Scott managed the successful Christ The King FC team in Division One. Ultra-reliable, Scott adds to our burgeoning bevy of Scotsmen and can play anywhere at full back, midfield or up front.

alan160A youngster, 28 year old colossus Alan Varley has played with most of the Vets squad in his 12 years in sunday league. A champion surf-caster and member of the world cup winning England Surfcasting Squad - Alan also manages to drink the world's finest casters under the table on regular occasions. An impressive centre half and yet to be seen beaten in the air.

rob-160Rob Molyneux, 44, used to play for Burnley in his 20's and now runs a successful Sports Therapy practice from Leyland. The Official Vets Physio, Rob won't make every game due to work committments but will be a welcome addition when available.

ian-chappy16033 year old Ian Chapman will share goalkeeping duties for the Vets next season with young Kyle. Twin brother of John, but we don't hold that against him. A big presence in nets (well, anywhere actually).

swifty16033 year old Mike Swift missed playing last season whilst being Secretary of Prem team Devonshire Arms. Now he's back, and the high quality centre half or centre forward will be pushing for a starting spot most weeks.
